Sensor OKI

Televisions are every day more intelligent is something that we already know, but the last invention of OKI perhaps even excessive by the possibilities that entails. It's a sensor in principle intended for televisions, but adaptable to other devices, that automatically detects the approximate age and sex of the user who is ahead.

The device uses a small camera attached to the corresponding facial recognition software to estimate how old is the viewer and whether it is male or female. The effectiveness of the invention is demonstrated, especially taking into account the disparity of factions and body hair, for instance, European and Asian people.

So far, the device has only been programmed to turn on or to pay the television depending on if there is someone watching it, but the idea of OKI is that the device can be iutilizado as automatic system of restriction of age, or to Customize advertising based on the Viewer. Bearing in mind that it is only a camera and software, it would not be surprising that Microsoft should take note of the idea for Kinect.
