Lenovo Classmate

Intel and Lenovo have worked together to develop the new Lenovo Classmate +. You remember the first version? The team presented today is a small development on it, manufactured and distributed under the Lenovo signature.

Lenovo Classmate + is a very basic, portable, because it is intended to be used for educational purposes throughout the world. It will have a screen of 10.1 inches with an Intel Atom, Ethernet, WiFi, 250 GB hard drive (optional SSD), camera of 1.3 megapixel camera and various USB and flash card readers. As we say, very simple to use in the classroom and so the kids can learn what is a computer and its purpose. It will be distributed with Windows 7. Yes, I also so I thought, why not get a free Linux? The debate is served.

Intel has confirmed that first 158,000 units already are destined to Latin American countries, and more specifically to the Organization of Ibero-American States have them, as they see fit. An interesting initiative which should have an even greater impact and the technology to carry any inhabitant of the planet.

By now the Lenovo Classmate + not be sold to the public, if not which will only be available to Governments and organizations. Why the price is completely unknown, and indeed not known if the Classmate + future users will have to buy it in some way or will be subsidised, either totally or in part. We understand that this is something that depends entirely on the organizations, in this case the OEI, and will it be that determined by.
